Lavender International Attends Successful Apprenticeship Live Event in Collaboration with Barnsley Council.

Barnsley Football Club, in partnership with Barnsley Council, proudly hosted a highly successful Apprenticeship Live event on the 18th June, 2024.

The event aimed to connect young people and aspiring professionals with local businesses and training providers, showcasing the diverse range of apprenticeship opportunities available in the region.

The event, held at Oakwell Stadium, drew an impressive turnout of over 1000 attendees, including students, parents, educators, and local business leaders. Attendees had the chance to explore various apprenticeship programmes across multiple industries, including engineering, healthcare, digital technology, and creative arts.

Barnsley Council’s commitment to supporting local talent and fostering economic growth was evident throughout the event.

Helen Valentine, Barnsley’s Enterprise Coordinator expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We had over 470 young people and their parents attending, and their general feedback was that they gained a lot from speaking to you all, so we really appreciate your time at the event, which ensured it was such a success.”

Representative’s from Lavender International were Sam Cunningham , Technical Sales Manager for the NDT Apprenticeship schemes, and Marketing Manager Joy Gregory who were on hand to provide insights and answer questions about the NDT sector and our Apprenticeship offerings.

The event featured interactive technology demos, panel discussions, and networking sessions, allowing attendees to engage directly with potential employers and learn about the benefits of apprenticeships.

Many of the event attendees used the Eddy Current Probe to try and find a defect in a weld sample.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the comprehensive information and opportunities provided. The event successfully highlighted the dynamic and evolving landscape of NDT apprenticeships across the country, enlightening and encouraging more young people to consider NDT as valuable career path.

One parent even said “that is the most interested and inspired my Son has been for years”.

Barnsley Council and Barnsley Football Club extend their heartfelt thanks to all participating businesses, organisations, and volunteers who contributed to making the event a resounding success. Plans are already underway for future events to continue promoting apprenticeships and supporting the professional aspirations of the local communities.
